DayShift Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
DayShift is a workforce time-clock app published by Day Wholesale Inc., 151 Park St, PO Box 700, Tupper Lake, NY 12986, United States. You can reach us at info@daywholesale.com.
DayShift is provided to employees through their employer. You can only use the app if your employer runs a DayShift timeclock system and has enabled mobile clocking for you. The app is a tool for recording your work time; the records themselves belong to your employer.
2. What we collect
- Identity — your name, work email address, and employee number, as they exist in your employer's timeclock system.
- Authentication — your PIN. On the device it is stored only in hashed form; verification happens locally and against your employer's server. Signing in issues the app a device token so you don't re-enter the PIN for every action.
- Location — your precise GPS position, captured only at the moment you record a punch (clock in, clock out, start or end a lunch or break). DayShift does not track your location continuously and does not track it in the background. If you deny the location permission or no fix is available, the punch is still recorded — just without a location.
- Photos — a self-portrait taken when you punch, only if your employer has turned on photo verification. If your employer hasn't, the app never uses the camera.
- Time data — your clock-in and clock-out timestamps, lunches and breaks, timecard corrections you submit, and leave (time-off) requests.
- Device information — the device name/model you registered with, so you and your employer can recognize which device is signed in.
3. Why we collect it
We use this data for three purposes only:
- Timekeeping and payroll — recording the hours you work so you are paid correctly.
- Punch-location verification — letting your employer confirm where a punch happened.
- Fraud prevention — for example, photo verification to prevent one employee punching for another.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build profiles of you. We do not sell your data — to anyone, ever.
4. Where your data goes
Everything the app records is transmitted to your employer's timeclock server. Your employer is the controller of that data — DayShift is the tool that collects and delivers it on their behalf.
Your employer's administrators and managers can see your punches, punch locations, punch photos, timecards, and leave requests, just as they could with a physical time clock and paper records. No other third parties receive your data.
5. Storage and security
- All data travels between the app and your employer's server over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
- On your device, the app stores only what it needs to work: your session credentials (kept in the platform's encrypted secure storage) and, in the Android app, a short offline queue of punches waiting to sync.
- Your work records are retained by your employer. How long they keep them is set by your employer's retention policy and applicable payroll and labor law — ask your employer for their policy.
6. Your rights and deleting your data
Because your employer controls the records, requests to correct or delete your data go through your employer — talk to your manager or payroll office. The app also has a built-in way to request corrections to your own timecard.
Uninstalling the app removes all data stored on your device, including the offline queue and your sign-in. Records already synced to your employer's server remain with your employer.
Your account itself is provisioned by your employer, so account removal is handled by your employer: when they disable mobile clocking or deactivate your employment record, the app can no longer access anything. If you can't resolve a request through your employer, contact us at info@daywholesale.com and we will help route it.
7. App permissions
- Camera — only to take the punch photo, and only when your employer requires photo verification.
- Location — only to attach a position to a punch at the moment you record it.
- Notifications — only for reminders such as "you may have forgotten to clock out."
You can deny any of these permissions in your device settings; denying location or notifications never blocks a punch.
8. Children
DayShift is a workforce app for employees and is not directed at children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it at this same address and change the effective date at the top of the page.
